Public Safety Meeting a Success
Over 75 SCBA members and guests gathered on March 23 at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children to hear from VICE, TABC and the City of Dallas. Guest speakers Lt. Christina Smith with Dallas Police Department's VICE division, Lt. Jeff Gladden with TABC and City Attorney Melissa Miles addressed the topic of sexually oriented businesses (sobs) in the Stemmons Corridor and shared some of their latest tactics. Recently, these agencies worked together to successfully revoke the certificate of occupancy for 25 sobs and 12 of those have been shut down completely. The rest are in violation and pending in the legal system. It definitely takes team work when mitigating these sobs and we sincerely appreciate the hard work it takes to keep our community safe. Thank you to our generous co-sponsors Inland American Communities Group and Texas Security Bank for providing lunch for all in attendance.
